I think the crazy idea of a long road trip around the world came up while M and I were driving somewhere along the west coast of Morocco during our holiday in March 2015. We’ve only been together a few months but for some reason we decided to go together on holiday to celebrate my birthday. So, there we were, trying to decide where to go and because I’ve never been on an ‘All-inclusive’ holiday before, we went to a travel agency and 15 minutes later we were booked to go to Morocco.
We got there, nice resort, nice people, and nothing to do but eat, sleep, walk, repeat. We had such a nice dinner for my birthday on our second day in the resort but by then we were a bit fed up with the whole ‘there’s not much to do’ thing. M has always described himself as someone who has ‘itchy feet’. Thinking about it, I guess I’m one of those as well.
Anyway, we rented a car and hit the road on the third day of our holiday in Morocco. After that trip, our lives changed. We caught the travel bug and after years of working and feeling unhappy and unfulfilled with our lives, we are about to embark on a new adventure. December 2018 is our deadline and this blog will be the main point of contact through the months to come where we will be posting about ourselves, the people we meet, our car, the places we visit, the issues, the adventures.
South America, here we come!
